1st Day of Pre-School

Well, we sent our baby off to pre-school today. It was very dark and rained most of the day.

This was a very mixed emotional day for us. We are officially finished with the baby/toddler phase. Landon was very excited to go. We took pictures before we left and he couldn't wait to put on his backpack. We got to walk in to school with him and take him to his classroom. This is the same school that we sent Lukas to, so we are very familiar with the system and Preschool/Pre-K teacher. His teacher went over her plans and curriculum for this year. She is going to work with the students on holding the pencils and crayons correctly, name recognition and writing their name, number and letter recognition and concepts. They also encourage the students to begin socialization and use appropriate language/actions in the school setting. Since this is a Catholic School, they will include Jesus and God in every school day.

When it was time for the parents to leave, Landon gave us a hard time. It started out as "I wanna go home", then the tears came on. He was the only child crying. He was clinging on to Mommy and she had to pry him off and leave the room. She waited around the corner of the room. Daddy stayed with him an extra couple minutes. He didn't want anything to do with daddy and was pushing/fighting trying to run after Mommy. The teachers told Ben to leave the room to and that if they couldn't get him to calm down, they would call us. We actually waited in the hall and listened to him cry. It was terrible, but we know this is what's best. We actually were happily surprised that he only cried for a couple minutes and we felt reassured to leave. Ben picked him up at 11am and he said that Landon walked out smiling and said that he had a lot of fun. He can't wait to go back on Tuesday! We are praying that we don't have to go through this again next week.

We are overly excited for Landon! We know he's going to learn so much this year. Good luck in Pre-school Landon!
