Swimming Lessons

Lukas and Landon started swimming lessons June 18th and today was their last day. Kelly took off work today to come watch them.

Lukas was in group 3 this year. He tested very well! He completed the following:
Knows pool rules
Knows safety measures
Front float 30 sec.  – Unassisted
Back float 30 sec. – Unassisted
Freestyle form
Breathing
Treads water 30 sec.
Rock retrieval – 6 ft.

He tested attempted for the following:
Freestyle 15 yds.
Backstroke 15 yds.

He will start in group 3 next year, but should move up quickly. We are so proud of you, Lukas!

This was Landon's first year of swimming lessons and he did very well! He completed the following on his test:
Knows pool rules
Knows safety measures
2.8 ft. wall jump – Unassisted
Diving Board Jump – Jumps unassisted, but caught
Front paddle 3 to 5 yds.
Kicks 5 to 10 yds. – Unassisted
Rock retrieval – 2.8 ft.

He tested attempted for the following:
Front float – Assisted
Back float – Assisted
15 Bobs

We were amazed how well he did. His favorite part of lessons was jumping of the diving boards. He was the only one in his group that didn't need assisted. He didn't even want the lifeguard to stand on the board with him. We're not sure which group he'll start in next year. We may start him in group 1 and if he's too advanced they will move him up to the next group. He's looking forward to lessons next year. We are so proud of you, Landon!

Here are some pictures and videos from today:)

Laurel Caverns

Today we went to Laurel Caverns with the cub scouts. We must say "What a great experience!" The boys got to miniature golf in a cave. It was totally awesome. We took a picnic lunch and afterwards we got to tour the caves. It was so cool. Literally, you had to take a sweatshirt because the cave is about 50 degrees all year. We did the traditional guided tour that lasted about an hour. The caves were lighted, but we did go through a demonstration where our tour guide turned off the lights. We got to watch a cool light show. The boys also enjoyed panning for gemstones. We can't wait to go back and do different tours they have. Ben really wants to do spelunking and cave rappelling. This will have to wait a few years:)

IDLEWILD

Today was Ben's company picnic at Idlewild. This year we decided to spend half the day at Soakzone. It was a perfect day for the water park. Lukas rode every single water slide and Landon was able to get on two of them. The boys had so much fun in the water. We even got to try out the new wave pool that they put in last year. Not only was this the first time the boys had ever been in a wave pool, but also Ben's. Lol! It was a lot of family fun:) Of course, the boys had a blast on all the rides, too.

Love this pic of Lukas:)

Last day of second grade

Today is Lukas's last day of second grade!
He really transformed from the beginning of the year. We are so proud of you, Lukas andwe love you so much! XOXO~Mommy & Daddy

It was also a very memorable year for him. His teacher retired this year. She told the class two weeks before school was out. Every student wrote a note to Miss Saellam and they read them out loud to her during a retirement party the class through for her. The class also signed a quilt for her. Below is the note he wrote.

"Dear Miss Saellam,
you have taught me so much this year
and we're almost 3rd graders.
So, it is time to grow up
and it is sad for you to retire."

Make sure to scroll down to see
some of his school work from this year :)
