Straight A's!

Lukas had three tests in a row this week and came home with straight A's! He's doing wonderful in second grade and loves it. We are SUPER proud of you, Lukas. Keep up the excellent work! Love,
Your super proud parents

A thought from Mommy:
I helped Lukas study all week for his various tests, social studies, spelling, and science. Thursday evening we were studying for his science test. We had a great 45 minute study session. Right after we were done, he got down from the kitchen table and came over and gave me a long hug. Lukas, you made my year. I feel so loved and appreciated! I love you so much and I am so proud of you. Thank you for being a wonderful son! ~XOXO, Mommy

Meet the Teacher – Night #2

We had a very busy week. This evening the boys and I went to Landon's school for "Meet the Teacher" night. We already know his teacher, but he was so excited to show us his classroom. He showed us his cubby, where he sits and EVERYTHING around the room. His teacher had Lukas a couple years ago and she said that sometimes she catches herself calling Landon "Little Lukas". She can't get over how much Landon looks like his big brother! Lukas had fun talking to his old teacher and remembered a lot about the classroom. Landon has really turned around over the last couple weeks. We are so excited to watch him grow this year! We are super proud of our baby. He's such a big boy now! :) He made this cute chicken in class this week...too cute.

Meet the Teacher – Night #1

Today, Tuesday, the boys and I went to "Meet the Teacher" night at Lukas's school after dinner. He got to show us around his room, his desk and even made a folder for all the paperwork his teacher had given us. We got to sit through a 20 minute presentation on what they have been doing over the last three weeks, classroom procedures, and what they will be learning throughout the school year. Lukas is very eager to learn cursive writing! I can't believe he'll be learning cursive already. Towards the end of the year, they are going to be learning times tables. I really like his teacher. She is very forceful, demanding and will really push Lukas this year. He's an amazing student and we know he'll do well!

Fall Soccer

Lukas wanted to give soccer another shot. We signed him up in June and he had his first practice on August 25th. He is in the U8 group and we don't know his color team yet. He's already had three practices and he's doing great! He's definitely more coordinated this year.

Here's a picture I took after his first practice. Lukas dressed himself for practice ~ We love it! GOOD LUCK LUKAS!

Pre-School Day #2

Today was Landon's second day of pre-school. After his first day, we were holding our breath when we took him today. We waited outside for the teacher's aide to take the kids in to the building. When she opened the door, Landon gave us kiss & hug and off he went. No clinging! No crying! He was a such a big boy walking up the steps into his school. The teacher's aide greeted him and after he passed her, she gave a big smile with two thumbs up! It was awesome. We thought for sure we were going to have it rough for the next few weeks/months. He had a great day and even told us he has a new friend, "Tyler"! He can't wait to go back on Thursday and he said "I'm not going to cry":) Great job, Landon!

Nathan's 2nd Birthday!

This afternoon, we went to Uncle Clint's and Aunt Sandy's to celebrate Nathan's 2nd birthday. The boys love to go over to Uncle Clint's house. It was raining, so they didn't get to ride on his quad. Nathan was in a spectacular mood and was so excited about his birthday party. The boys had so much fun playing with their cousin. HAPPY 2nd BIRTHDAY NATE!!

Talen's Party

This post is actually from last Saturday, August 27th. I'm a little behind on posting. We went to our nephew's 3rd birthday party. Mike and Megan rented a bouncy house. The kids had so much fun. We definitely need to buy one of those. The kids were occupied all day and slept really good that night. The theme of the party was "Cars". We had so much fun. Happy 3rd birthday, Talen!!

1st Day of Pre-School

Well, we sent our baby off to pre-school today. It was very dark and rained most of the day.

This was a very mixed emotional day for us. We are officially finished with the baby/toddler phase. Landon was very excited to go. We took pictures before we left and he couldn't wait to put on his backpack. We got to walk in to school with him and take him to his classroom. This is the same school that we sent Lukas to, so we are very familiar with the system and Preschool/Pre-K teacher. His teacher went over her plans and curriculum for this year. She is going to work with the students on holding the pencils and crayons correctly, name recognition and writing their name, number and letter recognition and concepts. They also encourage the students to begin socialization and use appropriate language/actions in the school setting. Since this is a Catholic School, they will include Jesus and God in every school day.

When it was time for the parents to leave, Landon gave us a hard time. It started out as "I wanna go home", then the tears came on. He was the only child crying. He was clinging on to Mommy and she had to pry him off and leave the room. She waited around the corner of the room. Daddy stayed with him an extra couple minutes. He didn't want anything to do with daddy and was pushing/fighting trying to run after Mommy. The teachers told Ben to leave the room to and that if they couldn't get him to calm down, they would call us. We actually waited in the hall and listened to him cry. It was terrible, but we know this is what's best. We actually were happily surprised that he only cried for a couple minutes and we felt reassured to leave. Ben picked him up at 11am and he said that Landon walked out smiling and said that he had a lot of fun. He can't wait to go back on Tuesday! We are praying that we don't have to go through this again next week.

We are overly excited for Landon! We know he's going to learn so much this year. Good luck in Pre-school Landon!
