Coloring Easter Eggs

This afternoon we colored our Easter eggs. We have a busy week ahead of us so we decided to do them today. The weather was rainy and cold so it worked out great and gave us something to do. Lukas was a little upset because we usually do themed egg coloring, but this year I told him we were going to do the basic/traditional coloring because the others were too hard for Landon. We argued in the store for about 5 minutes and needless to say, Mommy won! After lunch, I cleared the table and got everything set up. The boys were right there with me being very impatient. I let them put the tablets in the cups and I poured the vinegar. I turned my head for not even a second and Landon took a sip of vinegar off his spoon. I told him he's not suppose to drink that and I think he knew right away as he was wiping his tongue. LOL! I had to call Ben to come help. This is the first year that he was actually involved with the coloring process and he was loving it. Lukas did extremely well and didn't need my help at all. He's such a big boy...sniff, sniff! As we finished coloring them, Landon wanted to keep touching them and I wouldn't let him and had a melt down. He got banned from coloring and time-out. Lukas and I finished the last couple eggs and cleaned up. I had the eggs on the dining room table to dry and went on doing other things around the house. I went upstairs to get the sheets off our bed to wash them and when I went back down stairs, Landon had thrown the eggs all over the floor. 85% were cracked! I couldn't believe my eyes. As I was picking the pretty poor eggs up, I just had to chuckle. This was a first and I'll never forget it. Oh Landon! It was an interesting day here at the Remaley household.

Easter egg hunt

This morning we went to our church Easter egg hunt and party. The boys had such a great time. They had all kinds of tables set up with activities. Lukas really enjoyed coloring eggs. Landon went straight to the coloring table and after he was done with that he made a couple bracelets. After doing some activities, they had sandwiches, fruit, veggies, and some snacks. Around 11:00 they got all the kids lined up for the egg hunt. Lukas was so fast and got a ton of eggs. Landon on the other hand, would pick up an egg and have to open it, then put it in his basket. My mom (Nanny) was teaching him what to do and when he finally caught on all the eggs were practically gone. I don't take Landon to church very often since it's around his nap time, so lots of people were amazed how big he's gotten. We got so many comments on how much he's a spitting image of Lukas. They all just can't get over how much they look alike. We think it's pretty amazing too.

It was a great time and the boys really enjoyed themselves:-)

RoadTrip

This morning we got up bright and early and headed to Clearfield with our good friends Mindy and Teets. We went to Grice's Gun Shop, Army Surplus and Denny's Beer Barrel. Of course, the whole trip was about Denny's. The boys had so much fun at Grice's playing in the hunting blinds. After we were finished there, we walked over to the Army Surplus store. It was really neat. They had new and used Army gear. Lukas and I got army hats and Lukas also got this army bag. Mindy and I found these really cute hunting t-shirts for the boys. Ben got a shovel and belt. Of course all the stuff we bought was new:) After we were done shopping, we went to the famous Denny's Beer Barrel Pub. Ben has been wanting to here for so long. Ben and Teets had the 1lb burgers and they both finished it. Ben said that there was know way he could have finished the 2lb which is what he really wanted. In the picture, The big ass burger is Ben's 1 pounder, then the second biggest was mine (regular size), and Lukas and Landon had the mini burgers. They both did so well sitting the whole time and ate very well. Here's their site if anyone wants to check it out. dennysbeerbarrelpub.com
The burgers were delicous and we'll definitely be going back!

When we got back home we followed Mindy and Teets home and picked up their dogs and headed to Roaring Run and spent 2 hours enjoying the beautiful weather. Landon was a real trooper the entire day without a nap! The little bugger wouldn't even sleep in the truck. It was a great day:)

Tub Paints

Tonight the boys got carried away with Landon's tub paints. My sister got him these for his birthday. They smell good and make bubbles too. They were having so much fun that it looked they had been in a paint fight. Of course I had to get pictures of this. Kristy, the boys love the paints:-) THANKS!!

2 Year Photos

Here are some of Landon's two year photos that were taken a couple weeks ago. He was extremely happy that day and we think the shots turned out great.

Sunday Stroll

Today we went to Northmoreland Park to enjoy some warm weather for once. When we arrived, we were surprised how much snow was still around. The lake is still frozen. There were actually people out on the lake ice fishing. It was a sloppy mess, but it felt great to get out and walk the 1.1 mile around the lake and enjoy the weather. The boys loved it. Landon loved splashing through the puddles. We were so surprised that Landon walked the whole time and didn't want us to carry him. He always wants to walk every where we go. We haven't used a stroller in months. Lukas on the other hand would jump right in the stroller if we had it...LOL! Regardless of the snow, it was a great, beautiful day:)

All of us are ready for SPRING!

SOCCER

Today we registered Lukas for KA Soccer. He wanted to play last Fall, but we missed sign-ups. He is super excited. They are placing the kids on teams this week and we'll hear from our coach within the next week or two. This evening we went to Dunham's and got him all the gear he needs. When we got home he had to put on the socks, shin guards and his new cleats. He was running around the house like a mad man. He wants to go to practice tomorrow, but I told him they had to first pick the teams. He looks so adorable in the gear. We are so excited about him playing and can't wait to go to all his games. His first game is scheduled for April 10th!!

2 Year check-up

Today, Landon had his 2 year check-up. He absolutely hates going to the doctor. Of course he had to get a shot. He even dislikes getting weighed and measured. Ben is the primary one who takes them to their appointments since I'm at work. I must say that sometimes I feel so lucky that I don't have to deal with it. We both took Landon a few months ago and it was extremely stressful. He doesn't like the nurses or doctors to come near him and definitely does not want them to touch him. This is a stage that will pass. Lukas used to be the same way and now he doesn't mind going to the doctors office. He loves Dr. Gibson!

He is a perfectly healthy 2 year old boy. Dr. Gibson is so amazed how our boys are never sick. We didn't even get them their flu shots this year.  He weighed in at 26.5 lbs and is 34.25". His social and learning skills are right on target. She was actually amazed that he knows his colors, shapes and most of the character names from Thomas the train. She said that most two year olds don't know their colors this early. It doesn't really surprise us because he's involved in EVERYTHING his big brother does and says!

We did have Landon at the office back in January because he hasn't been sleeping well. We thought he might have an ear infection and thought we should have him checked out. We made got him in, but not with Dr. Gibson (our regular Dr.). It turned out that he didn't have one and was perfectly healthy. We asked if he has night terrors or night mares and the Dr. said that he is too young for those. So we left the office with advise that this was a stage and will go away at some point.

Needless to say, I had Ben ask our regular Dr. about this situation. She told us that he possibly could have night terrors and it doesn't affect him, but most definitely will affect us...and IS! Ben mentioned that he awakes every morning at 7am no matter what time we put him to bed. She told us that putting him to bed earlier may fix our issue. She thinks that he's not getting enough sleep, especially when he's waking up throughout the night. She also assured us that this is a stage and will soon pass. I do know this, but hope it passes sooner than later!

Just an update:

The latest words he's saying:
Bed
Blankies
Dog
Pee
Poop
Truck
Grapes
Color (for crayons)
Blue
Red
Purple
Yellow
Green
Mimi (this is now what he calls "Mom")
TV

Potty Training:
It's going well. He's getting used to his potty and tells us when he has to go. He still has not gone #2 on there yet. He always goes and hides and after he's finished in his pants he'll tell us that he "pooped". I keep telling myself it's early and it will come in time. For the most part, we are pleased with the progress. Just a mental thought/question of mine "why do my kids have to get naked to use the potty? Or, do all kids do this?"

Potty training!

We finally bit the bullet and got Landon his little potty and big boy underwear last week. It even has a soft cushy seat! It has been a full of potty training and he's doing pretty well. He has yet to go "poopy" on the potty. He says that he will and never does. We decided to keep a diaper on him until he gets used to the idea of the potty. Basically, we don't want to deal with the mess! Once he gets used to the idea and is better at using the potty, then we'll put the big boy undies on. He loves to go pee on his potty and is so proud after he goes. Then he must show all of us. It's so cute. As you may have noticed, we usually let him go pantless around the house. It seems to be easier since he tells us at the last possible second. Oh, the joy of potty training. Ben and I are so glad this is our last time to do this:)

Piggy banks

Today the boys and I were doing some cleaning around the house. They helped me shred documents and while cleaning I found a bag of pennies. So I had the boys get their piggy banks and had them add the change. I thought this would be a good learning activity for Lukas. He can count to 100 so I had him count as he added them to his piggy bank. Landon does everything that Lukas does, so he had a good time putting pennies in his bank too. He would even repeat the numbers after Lukas.

Landon's party

Yesterday evening we had Landon's birthday party. We had our family over for cake and icecream. We ordered our cake from someone new and she did an awesome job. Landon's favorite train is "Gordon" and I called and asked if she could do it and she said no problem as long as she had a picture. She has two grown boys, and said that she knew the exact train we were talking about because her boys were once into Thomas too. We had Grandma Glenna pick up the cake and when she arrived with it, we were amazed. Landon loved it!

Landon was so excited for his party. He was running and jumping around the house and was in a wonderful mood. He was so happy to see everyone as they arrived. He wanted to open his presents right away and couldn't wait to play with all of his new take along trains. He got so many! Pappy Sam got him this lightning McQueen car that he can ride and he played with it for hours. He actually was even being a little dare devil and would fall forward over the hood of the car and roll off. He thought it was so funny. Grandma Glenna and Rick got him this donald duck that talks and walks and the boys can't get enough of it. It is so funny to watch them play and laugh with it. Landon got many great gifts from everyone and loves them all. Thanks everyone for coming to the party and giving Landon a great 2nd birthday. We love you ALL!

HAPPY 2nd BIRTHDAY LANDON!

Landon's 2!

Today our baby boy turned 2. He's not really a baby anymore, but to his mommy that is what he'll always be. I think it's because he is my youngest child. Though he has changed a lot over the last 2 years, he still has many baby features. We haven't pushed potty training so he's still wearing diapers. Now that he is 2, we're going to really start working with him. We think he'll pick it up really quick. We'll see:)

We noticed that the last couple weeks he's been talking a lot. He says new words everyday and repeats us all the time. He started saying "Lukas" and it is so cute to hear it come from his mouth. We make him say it all the time. Lukas thinks it's so awesome!

Landon absolutely loves Thomas and friends. He knows most of their names and numbers and loves to play with them all day. This evening, we went and got supplies for his party tomorrow. After the boys got their bath, we decided to let Landon open his gifts from us. We thought since tonight is really his birthday and he'd be getting lots of gifts tomorrow night that he'd really enjoy them tonight...and HE DID! He was so happy. We got him a Thomas take along track set, Gordon (Landon calls him "OOF") that goes with the track, and the Thomas boat bath toy. We even let him stay up till 11:30 to play with his new toys. He actually went to bed tonight willingly:)

We can't wait for his party tomorrow!

HAPPY 2ND BIRTHDAY LANDON!
We love you SO MUCH...MWAH!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Ben and I aren't big on celebrating Valentine's Day, but this year actually turned out to be great. Friday, when I go home from work he had arranged a bouquet of flowers with roses, carnations and daisy's. It was big and beautiful. He was a little mad that Lukas gave the surprise away, but it's something we'll never forget. On Saturday, we had our income tax appointment and Ben was very in-need of new tires so he made an appointment to get those while we were at our appointment. That was part of his Valentine's gift. He was extremely happy! My mom watched the boys all morning, so after our appointment Ben and I went to Kings for breakfast. Later that afternoon, Ben made arrangements for his mom to watch the boys and the two of us would go to Red Lobster for dinner. Well, we were running later than we wanted and when we got to the restaurant, they said it would be an hour wait. We left there and decided to go to the field house (a nice, cozy bar). It actually turned out nice because we walked right in and got served right away. Ben had surf and turf and I had salmon. After we ordered, I gave Ben his card with lotto tickets. He actually won $15! Of course we wish it was more, but we'll take it:) Today we are relaxing. It was a great Valentine's weekend!

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!!

Sugar Cookies

This weekend we made Grandma Glenna's sugar cookies. These are Ben's favorite and I made them with his mom this Christmas to learn how to do them. The recipe is actually Ben's great grandmothers. I am so glad that I'll be able to keep the recipe in the family. Lukas didn't want to participate in helping and Landon was napping, so Ben and I iced the cookies together. It was nice to have him help me. They turned out great!
