Easter at Grandma & Rick's

We headed to Grandma/Rick's house around noon. We had a big Easter egg hunt planned for the kids and we are so thankful the rain held off. We hid over 120 eggs. Two dozen were camo eggs and they had a really hard time finding them. Grandma also taught Kelly and Megan how to make her homemade perogies. We had a really great time!

Rain, rain go away

Bye, bye swing set

We are doing some work to our house this Spring/Summer! We are finally going to redo our patio and sidewalks and we also bought a shed last weekend.

Ben was very busy today and took down the swing set. It was very weird when I pulled into the driveway after work. That swing set was here when we moved in 7 years ago. Even though the swing set was hurting, I was a little saddened. I'm going to miss watching the boys play on it. Ben did put the tire swing that we got last summer in the tree. The boys are not upset at all. They are very happy to have the "extra space" to play.

Majestic-Eggosauras Eggs

This afternoon we colored our Easter eggs.

We let the boys pick what they wanted and Lukas chose the "Eggosaurus" and Landon picked "Majestic Eggs". Landon's kit contained the kind that you have to use bags, add the color, and rub it all around. A bit complex for a 3 year old, but he did a lot better than we thought he would. Of course, both boys wanted to make dinosaurs. We combined the two different kits and the dinosaurs turned out fantastic. They had so much fun and after we were all finished, they played with them for a while.

LFUMC Easter Party

This morning the boys and I headed to our annual church Easter party. It was raining so they had the egg hunt inside this year. The boys really enjoyed themselves. Landon was really into making crafts this year. They both made easter egg magnets and dyed a couple eggs. Landon participated in a few other crafts (bunny mask and hosanna palm). You can tell that Lukas is getting older because he really wasn't into that stuff this year. There was a table set up with 6 candy jars that each child could guess how many pieces in each jar. Lukas guessed one right and won a jar with crunch bars, hershey bars and snickers. He was so thrilled that he won. He told me that I didn't do a very good job for Landon. After we did our crafts, they had all the kids sit in a circle and read an Easter story and they had to pass eggs around. I was actually surprised that Landon sat through the whole story. After story time, we went upstairs to hunt eggs in all the Sunday class rooms. Lukas was a mad man and filled his basket quickly. Landon didn't get so many, but he didn't seem to mind. My sweet Lukas even found eggs for other children and would put the eggs in their baskets. They got tons of candy, little toys and Lukas acutally got $7.00 in change. The boys look forward to the church Easter party. They do such a wonderful job!

Shrine Circus

This afternoon, we headed to the Consol Energy Center for the Shrine Circus. This was the first time for Landon and Ben. Well, Ben said he may have been to one as a child, but of course doesn't remember. Kelly's company did all the marketing graphics and we got VIP seating. We met up with her boss, Nena, and her husband. This year the circus featured Spiderman and Bello Nock. We all LOVED Bello! He was amazing to watch. Both boys sat through the whole show and we were amazed since it was about 3 hours. During intermission, they got light swords. They can't get enough of them. Lukas said his favorite part of the circus was Bello, the tigers, and the canon guy. Landon's favorite part was Spiderman and Bello.

Uncle Mike, Megan and Tyler were also at the circus and after the show, we stopped at Max & Ermas for dinner. It was a great day!

Raingutter Regatta

Tonight at scouts was our pack meeting/raingutter regatta.

The raingutter regatta is a racing event for Cub Scouts in the Boy Scouts of America that is the sailboat equivalent of the pinewood derby. Within the basic design rules, Scouts are free to paint and decorate their sailboats as they choose. Modifications for speed include the placement of the keel and rudder and the size, shape and location of the sail. The boats are raced in a standard rain gutter that is ten feet long, placed on a table or saw horses, and filled to the top with water. The boats are propelled by blowing on the sail, either directly or through a drinking straw. The first boat to reach the end of the gutter is the winner.

Of course, Lukas painted his camo and Ben even cut a hole for one of his army lego guys.

They used the straw method first and all the other races were done directly. Lukas won every single one of his races!! I was so happy because our poor little guy didn't win a single race at the pinewood derby. He was full of excitement tonight. I said to him "you have a really fast boat" and he said "no Mommy, I just have lots of steam". I took a bunch of videos because Ben was unable to go. When I woke Ben up for work tonight, I told him the great news and he was all smiles from ear to ear. I'm sure he'll hear more on the way to school tomorrow. This was our first raingutter regatta experience and we loved it. We can't wait till next year!

Happy Birthday, Nanny/Great Nanny!

Yesterday after dinner, we went to Nanny & Pappap's for her 79th birthday. The boys and I made cards earlier this week and they couldn't wait to give Great Nanny her cards. Landon said before we left the house "Great Nanny is going to love my card". He is too sweet! We were in such a rush that I didn't even get pics of their cards:( - but they were so nice.

3 year check-up

Today, Landon had his 3 year check-up. He is 39" and 29 lbs. He's above average for his height and below average in weight. Just like his big brother. He had to get one shot today and after the nurse gave it to him, he yelled at her, as he was crying, "that hurt"! The nurse felt so bad, but thought he was so cute. When Dr. Gibson walked into the room, Landon had a big smile on his face and was very friendly with her. He remembers her and really likes her. First, she wanted to check is heart and he said "I'm scared" in this sweet little voice. She said "It's OK honey, it's not going to hurt" and let him touch the scope. It worked, and she got to check him out and said everything sounds great. She also checked out his teeth, eyes, and ears. He's perfectly healthy! Once again, she gave us a great compliment on how she never sees our kids except for their check-ups. We are so blessed to have two very healthy boys!

Carrot Stick

I was preparing our (beef stew) dinner for tomorrow night and Landon wondered into the kitchen. He saw that I was chopping carrots and had to have a "big stick." Every time I prepare a dinner with carrots, he asks for his very own. Not that I'm complaining:)

Fifty degrees yesterday and snow today...
