Swimming Lessons – 2nd Session

Lukas finished his first week of session 2 swimming lessons. Landon and I've been taking him every night from 8-9. He is in level 2 this time and is doing extremely well.

Things they are learning:
pool rule discussions
alligator arms
bubble bobs
kicking on the side of pool
pushing off the edge of the pool and going into front strokes
rock game – they have to drop the rock, let it sink, and then swim to the bottom and get it
airplane, rocket, push stroke (it's a back stroke)
floating back & stomach
jumping of the dives

At the end of class, they got to use the water slide. All the kids got to go twice. The slide is Lukas' favorite. He goes down all by himself now! We all went to his lesson tonight so I was able to get some pictures.

Sweet Summertime!

Out and about...

enjoying Summertime!

Training wheels

Today, we took the boys to the trail. We took Lukas' training wheels off his bike, but he wasn't ready. We didn't think it'd be this difficult to teach him how to ride a bike. It seems so simple, but Lukas was scared without his "little wheels". After working with him for an hour and our backs in pain,  we put his "little wheels"  back on. We knew this was not going to be easy, but we thought it'd went a little better. We'll try again before the end of Summer. Hopefully, with better results=]

Jackson Falls

Yesterday, after Landon woke up from his nap, we took an adventure to Jackson Falls. We attempted this before and couldn't find it. It was a long hike, but well worth it. The boys had a lot of fun. We dragged my sister along which really helped with Landon. Thanks Kri for coming with us. At least it wasn't a 4 hour adventure like the last time. We didn't get to stay too long because we had to get home so Ben could go to bed. I am so glad that we found the falls this time=]

Our trip to Maryland!

We went to Maryland for a few days last week to visit with Jason, Erica, Avery and Landon. We spent three days there with 3 sixteen month olds, a 5 year old and 4 adults. We all had a wonderful time. It was so great to hang out with our great friends for a few days. There was a train museum a couple blocks from their house and we walked Lukas over one afternoon while the babies were sleeping. He was in absolute heaven. We toured a couple old cabooses and also got a small historical presentation in the 202 engine. Lukas got to pull the rope to ring the bell. That was his favorite part=] On Friday, Erica promised Lukas that he'd be able to play their Wii. We went out to dinner after we put the babies to bed and Erica's parents baby sat. When we got back about 2 hours later, Lukas was still playing Wii. They said he never stopped playing the entire time we were gone. Needless to say, the day we got home we went out and bought a Wii. This was also the longest trip we've taken with both boys. And, the first time Landon has slept away from home. He did extremely well. The first night was a little rocky, but he slept all night the last three nights. The one picture is the boys in the car when we drove through the tunnel. Landon's eyeballs got HUGE when we first entered. They were both excited being this was their first time riding through a tunnel. Enjoy all the various pictures. Again, thanks for everything Erica and Jason – Luv U Guys!!

Swimming Lessons

Lukas finished his last day of swimming lessons today. He had been going the last two weeks. Ben and Landon were taking him everyday from 11:00 – 12:00. Ben didn't get to watch Lukas very much because Landon wanted to go in the pool too. Ben would put a little swimmer on him and let him play around in the pool instead of chasing him around for the hour. I was able to go today since I had off. He did so well today and I'm so proud of him. Ben stayed home with Landon and I got some videos and photos. Lukas went down the big slide, three times in a row, all by himself, but I didn't get this on video. The lifeguard told me that he did so well that they wanted to move him up to the next group, but there wasn't enough room. At the end of the lesson they sat in a circle and went over the "pool rules" and handed out treat bags and their certificates. I may put him in another session this year.
